研究のためサウスイースト工科大学を訪問中に在アイルランド大使公邸への招待を受け、アイルランドにおける留学交流に関する取り組みや今後の教育面の可能性等について話をしました。
サウスイースト工科大学との交流は、ウィリアムソン教授が20年以上に渡り研究を行っているラフガディオハーン（小泉八雲）が子供時代を過ごしたトラモアの「ラフガディオハーンガーデン」の開園がきっかけとなり始まりました。　

While visiting sister universities in Ireland and the UK to collect data for our grant, Ambassador Murayama of Ireland invited Prof. Williamson and Project Assoc. Prof. Shibata to his residence to talk about our study abroad partnerships in Ireland and future educational possibilities.
The connection with SETU started with the opening of the Lafcadio Hearn Gardens Tramore of Waterford as Prof. Williamson has been conducting research on Lafcadio Hearn for more than 20 years.
